Hot Press Sintering Furnace

With the SPS sintering method, the sintering process cycle can be shortened to several minutes because the workpiece is directly heated by a direct current pulse. The use of DC short pulses increases the sintering activity of many materials, and processes such as Joule heating, plasma generation, and electromigration occur at the contact points of the particles. Therefore, compared with the conventional hot pressing and sintering process, the sintering temperature and mold pressure of SPS are much lower than the former two. The Hot Press Sintering Furnace is a complete set of equipment for hot-pressing materials under vacuum conditions, mainly using resistance heating or induction heating, and the pressure head driven by the cylinder is pressurized up and down. The equipment combines vacuum, hot press forming, and high temperature sintering.

The hot-pressing sintering furnace is mainly used by universities and research institutes for sintering inorganic materials under vacuum hot pressing conditions in order to obtain high-density products.

Hot pressing sintering furnace configuration options: Horizontal furnace shell; optional external circulation cooling system; high temperature metal molybdenum rod / silicon molybdenum rod material heating selection, convenient for different process requirements; different use temperature / vacuum degree selection.

Hot pressing has a limited field of application for such materials which do not sinter to high densities due to low diffusion coefficients or for cases where a pore-free state is required (for optimum mechanical, thermal or optical properties).
With this process only parts with simple shapes like plates, blocks, cylinders can be manufactured easily. With a highly sophisticated design of pressing dies also more complex shapes can be produced.
Available pressing force: 50kN to 9000kN at max. 2500°C, applicable for components of max. Ø 700mm.


Application of hot press sintering furnace in the field of ceramics include:

1.Silicon nitride, mixed ceramics of Al2O3, TiC/TiN and sialon for cutting tools, components of heavy-duty valves, bearings, wear parts for process technology.

2.PLZT (lead-lanthan-zircon-titanate) and other high developed functional ceramic (O2atmosphere)

3.Boron carbide (B4C) for extremely wear resistant parts and armors.

4.SiC whisker reinforced Al2O3 for cutting tools

5.MMC and CMC materials, composite materials

6.Sputter targets

 

Hot pressing technology is applied variously in fundamental research and production.
