1.Boron carbide ceramics

Characteristic Description:

Boron carbide ceramics are characterized by low density, high hardness, high modulus of elasticity, high thermal conductivity, high melting point, excellent wear resistance and high bending strength and fracture toughness.

Application:

It is widely used in the grinding materials of the protection and grinding industry, the ceramic lining of the sandblasting industry and the ceramic seals of the mechanical and electrical industries.

Boron carbide (boron carbide), alias: black diamond, formula:B4C, usually represented as the black powder. It is one of the hardest three materials.(others are diamonds, cubic boron nitride), used for armor of tank, bullet proof clothing and many industrial applications. Its Mohs hardness is 9.3. It was discovered in nineteenth Century as a by-product of metal boride and was not studied scientifically until 1930s. Boron carbide can be obtained by reducing three oxidation of two boron by carbon in electric furnace. Boron carbide can absorb a large number of neutrons without forming any radioactive isotopes, so it is an ideal neutron absorber in nuclear power plants, and neutron absorber is mainly to control the rate of nuclear fission. Boron carbide is mainly a controlled bar in the nuclear reactor field, but sometimes it will be made into powder for increasing the surface area. It has the characteristics of low density, high strength, high temperature stability and good chemical stability. It is used in wear-resistant material and ceramic reinforced phase, especially in light armor, reactor neutron absorber and so on. In addition, compared with diamond and cubic boron nitride, boron carbide is easy to manufacture and low in cost, so it is more widely used, and can replace expensive diamond in some places, and it is commonly used in grinding and drilling.

2.Silicon carbide ceramics

Characteristic Description:

 Silicon carbide is a kind of industrial ceramic material with high hardness, high wear resistance, low friction coefficient, strong oxidation resistance, good thermal stability, low thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity and chemical corrosion resistance and other excellent properties, it can be used for various mechanical equipments which require wear resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance.

Applications:

widely used in machinery, metallurgy, mining, chemical industry, such as mechanical seal ring, sliding bearings, nozzles, cutting tools and so on.

Silicon carbide (alias: carbon silica, gold steel sand or refractory sand), chemical formula: SiC, is the refractories high temperature by smelting in the resistance furnace,using the raw material of quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal char) and sawdust. Silicon carbide in nature also exist in rare minerals, Mo Sangshi . Silicon carbide is the most widely used and most economical kind of the non oxide high technology refractory materials such as C, N and B, The silicon carbide produced in our country is divided into two types: black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, all of which are six party crystals. The specific gravity is 3.20 to 3.25, and the microhardness is 2840 to 3320kg/mm2.

3.boron nitride ceramics

Characteristic Description:

Side seal plate is the main part of the thin strip continuous casting production line. It has excellent heat shock resistance, easy processing to the required shape and size, excellent heat resistance, molten metal resistance, slag and glass, extremely high corrosion resistance and wear resistance.  

Application:

Double roll strip continuous casting machine side seal plate continuous casting separation ring, powder metal atomizing nozzle, high temperature mechanical parts, such as bearing, valve and gasket melting metal processing furnace and mold.

Boron nitride is a crystal composed of nitrogen atoms and boron atoms. The chemical composition is 43.6% boron and 56.4% nitrogen, which have four different variants: Six boron nitride (HBN), rhombohedral boron nitride (RBN), cubic boron nitride (CBN) and wurtzite boron nitride (WBN). Its cubic crystalline variant (the alternate form of zinite in the boron nitride) is considered the most hard material. It is widely used in the manufacture of alloys, high temperature resistant materials, semiconductors, nucleon reactors, lubricants and so on.

Our company produces six party boron nitride composite ceramic and side seal plate, which is applied in strip casting process of steel industry. Boron nitride composite ceramic nozzle is mainly applied to the amorphous strip industry, especially in the production and application of super large amorphous broadband strip.

4.Silicon nitride ceramics

Silicon nitride, the chemical formula:Si3N4, is an important structural ceramic material. It is a superhard material, which is lubricated and wear-resistant to atomic crystals; antioxidation at high temperature.

It can also resist cold and heat shock and can be heat up to more than 1000 degrees in the air. It will not break even experiencing rapid cooling and then rapid heating. Because silicon nitride ceramics have such excellent characteristics, people often use it to manufacture mechanical components such as bearings, gas turbine blades, mechanical seal rings and permanent moulds. If we use heat-resistant silicon nitride ceramics to make the heating surface of the engine components, this can not only improve the quality of the diesel engine, save fuel, but also can improve the thermal efficiency.

5.Alumina ceramics (transparent ceramics)

The trademark of new material entering the market is ALON. It is the abbreviation of "nitrogen and alumina". ALON is a polycrystalline and completely transparent and its grain size is 80~250 microns. From the surface, the ALON plate is like a sapphire, and the chemical formula of ALON is Al (64+x) /3O32-xNx, and the X in the formula can be from 2 to 5.

In recent experiments, the double deck insulating glass made of several layers of ALON, glass and polymer has been able to withstand armor piercing shells continuously ejected from 7.62 mm caliber pistol, and the weight of double deck hollow glass is half lighter than that of ordinary bulletproof glass.

ALON can be widely used in various fields, such as making a specially wear-resistant supermarket bar code scanner window. But barriers of applying the ALON will be 3~5 times more expensive than traditional bulletproof glass. In addition, a lot of new furnace will be invested to create large quantities of materials for industrial scale applications. But the low weight and high strength of ALON is more important than the price of the product, and it has shown its irreplaceable advantages.

6.Zirconia ceramics

In terms of structural ceramics, zirconia ceramics are widely used in structural ceramics because of their high toughness, high bending strength and high wear resistance, excellent thermal insulation performance and thermal expansion coefficient. Mainly include: Y-TZP ball, dispersing and grinding media, nozzle, valve seat, zirconia mold, micro fiber ferrule, optical fiber, fan shaft sleeve, dies and cutting tools, tool wear, clothing buttons, watchband, watchcase and bracelets and pendants, ball bearings, golf ball rod and other light at room temperature wear parts etc.

In functional ceramics, its excellent high temperature resistance is used as induction heating tube, refractory material and heating element. Zirconia ceramics have sensitive electrical performance parameters, mainly used in oxygen sensors, Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) and high temperature heating body and other fields. ZrO2 has a higher rate of refraction (N-21^22), adding some coloring elements in zirconium oxide superfine powder in (V2O5, MoO3, Fe2O3 etc.), it can be made of colorful translucent polycrystalline ZrO2 material, like natural stones as bright and colorful flashing light, can be made into various decorations. In addition, zirconia is widely used in the fields of thermal barrier coating, catalyst carrier, medical, health care, refractory and textile.
